Some things I've done...

over the last couple of weeks:

*Received the nicest text message from G, that absolutely made my day.
*Made pumpkin and chorizo risotto. And quite a lot else, but I won't bore you!
*Had a minor kerfuffle with my previous employers over their, well, their incompetence.
*Attempted to tackle some of those jobs that I've been putting off for, ooh, about a year.
*Watched Top Gear clips on You Tube obsessively.
*Went to a funeral :-(
*Swore at my PC as it went tits up for the fifty-first time.
*Celebrated my Dad's birthday.
*Got some new clothes for work. If I ever actually start, that is.
*Drank a lot of coffee.
*Tottie-spotted in a bar with N.

And I'm sure many other things, but I can't remember. Tomorrow will consist of yet more conversations with employers old and new, more tidying, and perhaps some cooking.

I really want to bake another cake. But I won't - I shall remain strong, goddamit!

It's amazing what you can achieve with only a few letters :)

I think I'll be outright and ask... Was the funeral for someone you knew well?

You sound like you drink a lot of coffee :)

And lol, you do make me think of "female Rimmer" when you say "tottie" :) "Tottie, tottie, tottie." :)

Sorry you had to go to a funeral.

What's happening with your job? When do you start?

The funeral was for my godfather's mum. Didn't know her well, but still sad - she was a lovely lady.

I don't drink that much coffee, really. It's all decaf anyway, so doesn't count!

Still haven't got a start date for my job. I feel like I'm never going to start. Disclosure hasn't come through yet, and my new boss hasn't received the second of my references. Feeling a bit drained of enthusiasm at the moment.

Oh, and IM - the femail Rimmer!? I am *deeply* insulted by that. I have never resorted to using the wormdo line...

:-D

Well you're the one who keeps (ok, twice I think) saying "tottie" ;)

Wait, hang on, have you got something in your eye..? ;)

*cough* Aaanyway ;)

What exactly does disclosure cover? I only work for a small company, so there's not much beaurocracy here. Plus, when I started, so much else was going on at the same time, I don't remember it taking a long time to get started once everything was agreed.

On the plus side, I did hear of yet another person just recently whose getting maternity cover arranged, but doesn't intend to go back to work after that, so at least when it does get sorted, it could turn into a long-term thing :)

Nope - nothing in my eye. Thanks for asking, though :-P

Disclosure is to do with working with children. In this case I won't be, but I will be working with their details. It's a criminal record check type thing.

I started out all enthusiastic, and now I'm not. I'm sure I will be once I get started - it's just dragging on a bit!

Suz, sorry to hear you're feeling drained of enthusiasm, I sympathise. It's horrible when things just drag on like that. Fingers crossed they get a bloody move on!! ;)

I'm sure once you've got the actual start date that your enthusiasm will return :D

Jen - I'm fairly certain it will return! I just got all enthused about work, and the new challenge and the new wardrobe and the money....and time just went on and on and nothing happened!

On the plus side, even if it is slow progress, at least you know something IS happening.
So, whilst it must be infuriating having to sit and wait, and least you're not sitting and worrying about what will happen, because you know what's going to happen. It's just taking its time :)

Phew. Got that? :)

Oh, also, what's wrong with the PC? The same thing as the last 50 times?

The product validation key isn't working. There is now elements of two different operating systems on there, and they've fecked about with it so much, so that might be it.

*Sigh*

Oh dear. Who is "they" ?

D'you know whether it is refusing to accept the product key, or whether it is not allowing it to "Activate" with Microsoft?
If the latter, I have found in the past that getting them to activate it over the phone will work when attempting it across the Internet will not.
