Here you go...

Here are the poems. The photo is the proof copy of one of them. Here is the other, that I don't have a proof copy for yet:

A dense fog
has descended
And there is darkness
where there should only be light

A callous violation
of memories so precious
For they have been stolen
and can never be regained

But I cannot impart
And I cannot make peace with those
whose pleasure is formed from others pain

OK people, be gentle - I feel strange putting these on the internet. I know, they're being published, but still, it feels weird!

I like them both.

I prefer Memories. It's made me think. I like stuff that makes me think.

Maybe I'll have more to say when I've finishing thinking it.

Memories, eh? I thought that was so dark as well. Although I suppose everyone takes something different from it - for me, it was about a very specific incident.#

Oh well, if you think of anything else, I'd be intrigued to hear :-)

Yes, Memories is clearly dark. I can see the imagery in The Art Department, but it has less meaning to me - I'm not a very arty person.

But I've read quite a lot about forgiveness and some other related material and quotes recently. Partly because of Hanni/Snow's blog (have you read any of her blog?), and partly because I just happened to encounter some stuff.

So maybe it's because of that, I don't know. Perhaps, to my mind, it's because that one feels like it really means something, whilst the other one (appears to my eyes at least) to have less meaning.

PS. Sorry if there's something funny happening with my comments. Since upgrading to Blogger beta they appear not to be registering immediately.

Yes, I think your comments are taking a while to show up.

Anyway, yes - Memories has more meaning to me as well. Obviously, I suppose! I feel a bit strange about putting these out there, but what the hell? I'm trying in many ways to be braver, more confident, more adventurous. I've realised that while being cautious is good, you can be too cautious. I mean, before I wouldn't even have entered the competition.

Not sure that comment makes much sense, but hey ho!

I know what you mean.

I can find it easy to be too cautious too, but in the end, I guess what have you got to lose? You could have entered the competition and not got anywhere - so not really any worse than not entering at all... Except you have at least the chance (which paid off in your case! :) of getting somewhere :)

Anyway, I'll let you get to work on dropping the "Mis" ;)

I love the Art Department-the imagery is wonderful!

Memories is brilliant too, but more dark, more brooding.Like, Inspector Monkfish it made me think.

Fantastic stuff Suz!

Thanks, Jen :-)

I was a bit nervous about putting these out there. I used to be much worse, though, about showing my writing to people!

What was it you were nervous about specifically?

Memories (more so that The ARt Department) is very personal to me, am I'm generally a private person, so I just felt I was really putting myself out there by letting people see it. Although it was part of my course work, so someone ha already seen it.
